PREVIEW!

10.2.12
This morning I was able to finish my patient who I saw the first day of clinic, I was able to finish three quads of a class five and it was hard work, this patient calculus is very tenacious, but I was able to get it off with the help of my perio files ( love those things). Everything went smoothly I just wish I could of been a little bit faster. Working on my speed is something I need to improve on.
This afternoon was the preview to see how my mockboard patient was going to handle getting his teeth cleaned, and a preview for me to see how tenacious his calculus is... Well I found out my patient is very tough for how deep I was going in his pockets and scaling. He never flinched nor did he want to be numb, which was great for me. The problem with this patient though is his gums bleed like crazy, and I mean crazy!!! I had to hold gauze in his mouth while I scaled so it could absorb the blood so I didn't have to keep using my air/water. The calculus was not very tenacious and all it came right off ( so lucky me!) I lucked out with a good mockboard patient other than the bleeding, but we can work around that. One thing I learned today was how to irrigate his gums with CHX rinse, I had never done this before so it was a new experience for me. All in all today was a great day!
